Detective Stories – Episode 3 Hints

If you are stuck, we recommend that you check the instructions on our site in the suggested order.

There are two water samples – one containing the fluid from the victim’s lungs and another containing the water from the Still Lake. They appear to be different.

In the water of the Still Lake, diatoms (algae) are visible which are not visible in the sample from the victim’s lungs.

From the Wikipedia article it is clear that the sample from Fjodor’s lungs would be identical to the sample from the Still Lake if Fjodor had drowned there.

It is therefore clear that Fjodor did not drown by accident in the Still Lake, but somewhere else, and that his body was moved to the lake after his death.

Carl flew from UK to Germany on the night of the murder. The departure time in UK was 1:45 AM local time on the 16.04.19.

The approximate flight time from London to the nearest airport in the west of Germany (e.g. Dusseldorf) is 1,5 hours (this can be verified by checking the flight time of a real flight to Frankfurt, Munich or Düsseldorf).

[content_protector password=”show hint”]

Since there is a time difference of 1 hour between UK and Germany, the flight departed at 2:45 German time on the 16.04.19. Considering the flight duration of 1,5 hrs , we know that Carl arrived in Adlerstein at 04:15 at the earliest. He had no time to commit the murder.

On the account’s Twitter page there is an early entry that may give a hint to @Tschernowfan’s real identity.

The code used is the same as the one in Notebeck’s notebook. It’s the “Masonic cypher”.

For decoding it is necessary to use letters instead of the symbols that are part of the grid. Solution notes can be found at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pigpen_cipher.

Deciphering the code results in the username “superrudi”. A visit to twitter.com/superrudi reveals that the account’s owner is a 13-year-old boy.

Both brothers were recently released from prison, where they were serving prison sentences for aggravated assault.

Read carefully through the report of the inspection of Carl’s boat!

In the report check the statement about the fingerprints.

[content_protector password=”show hint”]

As the two brothers were previously incarcerated, their fingerprints will be in the police database. However, the fingerprints on the boat are unknown to the authorities. As Carl mentioned, his boat was sitting unused in the dock for at least six months, so we can assume that the fingerprints found belong to the murderer. They do not match the brother’s fingerprints- therefore they cannot be guilty of the murder.

She rented the Destiny yacht on 15.04.19.

Use the chat on the website adler-marina.de to find out the whereabouts of the yacht at the time of the murder!

[content_protector password=”show hint”]

At the time of the murder Natalia was on Zargen island to attend the big yacht event. In addition, she has no motive whatsoever.

[/content_protector]

Take a good look at his business card!

On the business card you will find the name of his assistant Jana Stabel, who is also mentioned elsewhere.

Jana has rented the yacht Andiamo. In the chat on the website adler-marina.de you can see her location at the time of the murder.

During the murder the Andiamo was lying in Kronstadt.

Take a look at the envelope that the private investigator sent to Adam!

Adam’s cell phone number also appears in another location.

An emergency call was made from his cell phone in Kronstadt at the time of the murder.

Nockland’s signature on the website future-for-germany.de matches the signature on file from when the yacht was returned.

[content_protector password=”show hint”]

Nockland was together with his secretary Jana Stabel on the Andiamo yacht and placed an emergency call at the time of the crime. He also signed on the return of the yacht next day.

[/content_protector]

Take a close look at his passport.

Carefully check the document from the German Embassy in Russia.

[content_protector password=”show hint”]

After comparing the entries on the visa application and the reasons for refusal, you can see that his application was rejected.

It is also possible to use the login data on www.dv-russland.de found on the corresponding page to go to the website of the German Embassy in Russia and search for Boris’ profile there. The fingerprint stored there does not match the unknown print found at the crime scene.

Go to the website indicated on the Russian flyer and translate it!

The pendant may be hers.

Take a close look at Irina's website, which describes the circumstances of Irina's accident.

She has a few people close to her, not just her father.

She has a fiancé (described in the russian article) who may be in the picture taken at the hospital.

[content_protector password=”show hint”]

Take a good look at the person in the hospital photo. Notice he has a distinguishing mark.

[/content_protector]

Look at the person in Carl Notebeck’s photo of the damaged car.

[content_protector password=”show hint”]

You can see that Rafael is Irina’s fiancé (look at the scar). He disappeared shortly after the murder and has no alibi. There is high probablity he is the offender.

[/content_protector]

Site of German Embassy in Russia will help to find the missing link.

If you do not know Raphael’s date of birth, read the article about Irina on the Russian website again.

The article states that Irina and her fiancé went to school together.

[content_protector password=”show hint”]

In 2018 Irina was 27 years old, so Raphael should be exactly the same age and would also be born in 1991. When you search for profiles on the site of the German Embassy in Russia (Karimof, Raffal, 1991), you will find Raphael’s profile and you can see that his fingerprints match those found at the crime scene. This is a strong indication that Raphael is the killer.

[/content_protector]

According to the water test results Fjodor was drowned, but not in Still Lake.

Rafael is the murderer and it is presumed that he stole the boat.

[content_protector password=”show hint”]

Raphael drowned him in the pool at the Dorfpark.

(here to see: dorfpark-adlerstein.de/en)

He stole Notebeck’s boat to transport the body to where it was found near the yacht club.
